I do think that a lot of businesses are not prepared to think outside the box. Further, many might not fully appreciate how business models and practices have changed thanks to the Internet and social media.

Some business places still think if they offer free wifi they’ll attract people who won’t buy anything but will just loiter to use the Internet. They may attract a few of those but the benefits of offering free wifi far outweigh any possible disadvantages.

There will also be the so-called implicit “halo effect”. Once in your shop, customers end up picking up items they did not originally intend to purchase, in addition to those that they intended to purchase.
