This goes way beyond the usual and customary 3 R’s literacy.

Information literacy is a pre-requisite for ‘adjusting to the wealth of information’ that is available, never mind ‘online’. And to the extent informed choices are only possible to the extent one is rational, then an information society presupposes a certain level of literacy; information literacy.
