Across the Caribbean region and in various quarters, there is often a focus on being expedient, quickly putting something in place, which upon closer examination, does not fully solve the problem at hand. She leads her design team with empathy and enthusiasm, all while really loving what she does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Chat topics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this Community chat episode, the following topics were discussed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><strong>What does it mean to become a digital society?<\/strong>&nbsp; The impetus for this topic was a recent article in one of the major Jamaican newspapers with the title,&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjis.gov.jm%2Fjamaica-closer-to-becoming-a-digital-society%2F&amp;data=05%7C01%7C%7C1d1389fc83624ec15cea08db450a21f8%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638179682072000240%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=T5zGEoCD8eznr0ZRkQUEzrtQahp%2FlV9TXWhMiXF24Gw%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Jamaica Closer to Becoming a Digital Society<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/em> &nbsp;However, the article led to more questions being asked about how far Jamaica is from becoming a digital society and whether we are underestimating all of the elements that must be successfully addressed in order for a digital society to be fully realised.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The importance of local context when implementing technology in the Caribbean.<\/strong> When implementing technology in the Caribbean, we are quick to use off-the-shelf solutions and not what we need from scratch. Though there are benefits to trying to apply readymade solutions, typically these solutions have developed to serve a broad client base. As a result, though we might be able to integrate the product or service into our business, there tend to be gaps, which in turn limits its effectiveness in our organisations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital customer experience problems in the Caribbean. <\/strong>Although UX (user experience) has become a crucial area when developing products for the market, or even just when serving customers.
