The announcement caught many by surprise because it was not contemplated in the Telecommunications Act which became law last December\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n Belize<\/em> \u2013 As you are aware, the government is regulating ownership of cellular phones. That means that everyone in your family who owns a cell phone will need to register it, whether or no that person is a minor or adult\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n Jamaica<\/em> \u2013 The Supreme Court has rejected an application by telecommunications company LIME, which sought to block the acquisition of Claro Jamaica by Digicel Group by challenging the decision of the prime minister to approve what it suggested was a harmful deal\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n Jamaica<\/em> \u00ad\u2013 TELECOMS provider LIME yesterday received a blow in its challenge of Prime Minister Bruce Golding’s approval of the merger between its chief rival Digicel and Claro… more<\/a><\/p>\n St. Maarten<\/em> \u2013 The Minister of Economic Affairs and Telecommunications has eight weeks in which to grant Corporate Innovations a Telecommunications license or pay a fine of Naf. 1,500.00 per day for failure to comply with the judge’s order. The ruling was handed down on September 26th by Judge van Veen\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n St. Maarten<\/em> \u2013 UTS informs its customers that there are individuals abroad attempting to commit fraud on the island by abusing the local telephone systems. Several customers have reported being contacted on their telephone numbers in an attempt to trick the customer into sending money abroad\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n Saint Lucia<\/em> \u2013 It will take a coordinated regional effort to protect Caribbean computer networks from hacker attacks and natural disasters\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n Guyana<\/em> \u2013 Digicel Guyana is demanding a full and frank explanation from GT&T\u2019s US owners, Atlantic Tele-Networks (\u201cATN\u201d) regarding the nature and extent of any legal or other threats made against the Government of Guyana concerning the planned introduction of telecommunications reform in Guyana last week\u2026 more<\/a><\/p>\n Jamaica<\/em> \u2013THE Digicel\/Claro deal has elicited much debate and a number of letters have been prominently displayed in this newspaper.
